HydroPop
HydroPop: A Transformable Air-to-Water Harvesting Pavilion.

Water scarcity continues to be a major global concern. My latest project, HydroPop, is designed to address this issue by passively harvesting water from the atmosphere. This structure features deployable Polar Scissor units, which enable both curvilinear and vertical transformations, making it adaptable across a wide range of environments—from dry deserts to humid coastal regions.

HydroPop incorporates fog nets made of durable polypropylene mesh, supported by a lightweight framework of bamboo and steel. Additionally, a sloped dew collector with hydrophilic properties enhances water capture efficiency, all without requiring any external energy sources. The pavilion is portable, sustainable, and can be constructed using locally sourced materials, making it a practical solution for water-scarce areas like Opuwo, Namibia.

This project demonstrates the potential of design and technology to not only solve real-world problems but also create a lasting impact. HydroPop is more than just a structure—it’s a step toward a sustainable future.
